The organization FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) has four levels of competition: Junior FIRST Lego League, FIRST Lego League, FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition.
FIRST releases a new game for teams participating in FRC every January where students must design and build a 120 pound robot in a 6 week build season to compete against other teams. Teams are judged for not only how well their robot performs but how they impact the community by volunteering, mentoring other robotics teams (First Lego League), market the team, create a business plan and design a website. |
Team 4617 will compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) which overall involves 2,720 teams and 68,000 high school students from around the world.
